iPod to iPhone – iEvolution?

After the phenomenal success of the iPod, Apple has finally planned to unveil another revolutionary device – the iPhone – Apple's iPhonewhich will be one of the most advanced mobile phones available today. The revolutionary phone provides complete multimedia playback capability enabling the user to play songs, videos and photos. On his new product, an ecstatic Steve Jobs, CEO, Apple told the media, “The iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone.”

To start with, this 11.6 millimeter device weighs just 135 grams and includes a 3.5 inch 480x320 touch screen display. Unlike other PDAs, the good old stylus is replaced by the user’s fingers! Furthermore, the phone employs an advanced built-in sensor – the accelerometer – which deals with both proximity and ambient light.

Bharti Retail on track

So how long will it take for Bharti Retail – with Wal-Mart in tow –Sunil Bharti Mittal to start shops in India? The information in the market is that the retail venture is on track – and is likely to start early next year. Sunil Bharti Mittal, Bharti Group Chairman and CEO, recently back from the US (where he met Wal-Mart Vice Chairman Mike Duke), told journalists in New Delhi that, “The process is going as per the plan and we are looking at a cluster of stores by early 2008... you will see half-a-dozen coming up.” The branding of the project is still being worked out with Wal-Mart. “Legal issues like brand agreement, franchise arrangement may take some time, but we are going ahead as per the plan,” Mittal added. It has already been decided that Bharti will manage the frontend, while Wal-Mart would provide back-end and logistics support.
